Final Project
This section describes the final project.
The Task Part 1
Calculate the exact number of M&M's in the glass jar.
Your calculation must involve:
A clear process which you can describe
Tools that you use to take measurements, or gather data
Calculations performed on Microsoft Excel
A result that is a specific number
The Task Part 2
Convince us that your calculation is the most accurate.
To convince us you will create ONE of the following:
PowerPoint
PodCast
Movie
Your presentation (whatever the format) must include:
Your name
Your final calculation
The process you used
Why your method is more accurate than others
Works cited
Good design (transitions, layouts, music, word art, avoid excessive text, bullets etc)
Things you may do
Share ideas
Share resources
Share data
Open the jar
Use ALL resources available to you
Access the jar outside of class (just let Mr. Mundahl know)
Things you may not do
Submit a group project
Submit a project identical to another student
Remove any M&M's fromt he jar
The jar may not leave the classroom, Mr. Mundahl's office, or Mr. Mundahl's home
Assessment
50% - Calculation
50% - Presentation
Bonus: if the class as a whole produces a more accurate result than last semester's group then each student will get a +5%. This will be determined in the following way:
Single best calculation is closer than last semester (129 off) = +2.5%
Average class calculation is closer than last semester (486 off) = +2.5%
